Had its Day?
#1
I am aware that a number of sports have pulled the idea of "brolly dollies" yet some maintain this "tradition".

Good or bad thing?  Who's exploiting whom?  Light hearted fun or exploitation?

As one model events girl pointed out to me . She was getting sheds loads of money making men horny and paying through the nose for it and she never had to see them . Plus she got to meet lots of wealthy bachelors lol . So rather than men thinking they were the ones on top she was a she shark on the prowl for a kill .

That is exactly one point of the argument, who is exploiting whom?

Yet by continuing this idea that sex sells (especially in advertising) doesn't it demean the female image and how can it help women to gain full equality?

Note- I am not offering my opinion at all (as yet) simply offering both sides of the debate.

Do the men who model for men's fashions and magazines diminish men as human beings . From drag queens to simpering sissies to the ancient Greeks whose love of fellow warriors was pure . I think that sex sells and the people we fantasize about either male or female in magazines and even porn . It's us who imagine all the upside and downside to make ourselves feel better and more worthy . And we are all willing to pay for it .

There’s not a deal that I can add here; I hold the same position as Bill.

Of course sex sells which is why we are bombarded with that concept at every turn, whether we like it or not.

What about the men who are used in the same manner to sell/advertise to women- though to a lesser extent?  Is that acceptable too?

Not quite sure how debating the up/downsides makes me feel better or more worthy though.  What do you mean by that?

You consciously and even subconsciously interpret the image to your own ideals . Giving positive or negative values to it depending on your own values and nothing to do with the values or personality of the model posing for the pics .

Having deemed it acceptable for women, that in itself is reason for me to condone men doing the same (and in the female dominated world that is generally advocated for on here and which many see coming (and certainly male domination is nearing an end), this is arguably something we can expect to see more of).
