Dear Helga, A few years ago, it was starting to get popular for boys to have ear piercings. My younger brother, Harry wanted one of his ears done, so he went to our mother and asked if he could, she said no. He asked her again a few days later, she still said no. Soon, he was asking her ten times a day until finally she said yes. I didn't fully understand why she said yes until later on that day, when my mother told me of her plans for him. The next day, we took him to a piercing studio and he got both of his ear pierced, he had only wanted one done but he kept both studs in when our mother told him to. He had to keep the studs in for six weeks before my mother could carry out her plans. When the six weeks were up, Harry had a big shock. He got home from school, my mother called him upstairs, she took his studs out and in their place she put big, pink dangly earrings. Harry immediately attempted to take them out but my mother slapped his hand away. He was then dressed in some of my old clothes, pink knickers, one of my old training bras, a white vest top, a pink skirt white ankle socks and fluffy pink slippers, he was livid. My mother then put half a dozen silvery bangles on each arm, a ring on each finger and she applied make up to his face. My mother hates it when we nag for things so whenever we nag she gives us what we wanted, but not the way we wanted. Harry had to dress like a girl, drowned in jewellry for about three months of saturdays after that to remind him not to nag my mother for anything again. Hilary Thank you for your letter Hilary. You and your mother are to be commended for the understanding and treatment of Harry's nagging ways. Helga |
